Hello! My name is Susan Zozaya and I have been teaching at Iowa Valley since 2001! I graduated from Wartburg College with an elementary education degree and a reading endorsement. I live in Fairfax with my husband, Ron, and two children.
In second grade, we are busy learning strategies to decode words, improve reading fluency, extend vocabulary, and to comprehend what we are reading. There are many opportunities to use these reading skills each day!
In math, students review time, money, place value, and counting patterns. We will also spend a lot of time adding and subtracting one, two, and three digit numbers!
Students switch classrooms for science and social studies. They have Miss Ries for social studies and I teach science. There are many hands-on learning experiments with the science kits. We learn about plants/insects, air/weather, and solids/liquids.
I have been very fortunate to work with a great staff and community! Go Tigers!
